Ham and cheese sliders are ham and cheese folded in a soft roll that is slathered with a seasoned buttery sauce.
HOT HAM AND CHEESE SLIDERS
If you are looking for the ideal party food, then look no further than these hot ham and cheese sliders.
Here is how easy they are to make –assemble the sandwich, drizzle the sauce, and heat them in the oven until the cheese is melted--how easy is that?
Sometimes, I make the sandwiches in the morning and put them in the refrigerator.
Just hold and drizzle the sauce until it is ready to bake. The buttery mustard poppy seed sauce is what puts these sliders over the top. Yummy yummy!
You don't have to wait for a get together, or party to make these.
I made these with some leftover ham we had at Christmas for a quick supper. If I were you, I wouldn't wait for the Super Bowl to make yours. (giggles)

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST HAM & CHEESE SLIDERS
Rolls or Buns. Hawaiin rolls are preferred in this recipe, but I also use the presliced brioche rolls at SAMS in the Bakery section.
Don't separate the rolls. Don't pull the rolls apart to cut them in half. Instead, cut the entire slab of the rolls all the way through at one time. I use a long serrated knife or bread knife. Cut the slab slowly to keep the top and bottom slices even. This can be done ahead of time –just place the top back on the bottom and then slide the whole slab of rolls back into the wrapper until you are ready to make the sliders.
Don't skip the mayonnaise. The combination of the mustard and mayonnaise gives a balance of taste and richness. You may substitute the yellow mustard with spicy brown mustard or stone ground mustard. And adjust the mayonnaise to your taste.
Use quality ham and Swiss. Buy good quality ham and Swiss cheese. I like to buy them from the deli and have them sliced fresh. Recently, I have been using Swiss and American cheese at SAMS. I prefer using unsweetened ham from the deli. The honey ham works against the sweetened sauce poured over the sliders.
Toasting the bottom of the rolls. Bake the bottoms of the buns to keep the sauce from making the bottom of the buns soggy.
Use all the sauce. Resist from not using all the sauce over the sliders when pooling in the bottom of the pan. The toasted bottom buns will not become soggy.

HOW TO MAKE HAM & CHEESE SLIDERS
SLIDERS
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line the bottom of a baking pan with foil. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and mustard.
Split the slider rolls and spread the insiders lightly with mayonnaise.
Fold a slice of ham to fit on each slider bun, and top with a slice of Swiss cheese.
Replace the top bun to assemble the sandwiches.
Place the sandwiches in the prepared baking pan.
POPPY SEED SAUCE
To make the sauce, combine all ingredients except the poppy seeds in a small bowl and whisk to combine. Drizzle the sauce over the tops of the slider buns.
Sprinkle with poppy seeds. Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes until the cheese is melted.
Remove the foil and bake 2 minutes longer. Wait 5-10 minutes. Lifte the sliders out of the pan with the foil.
Place on a cutting board to cut into sliders between the rolls, and serve warm.
