Spicy Cabbage and Onion Steaks,   a simple, fast and delicious humble vegetables that will wow any dinner guest.  Roasted in the oven thick cabbage and onion slices to perfection.

My family is a huge fan of cabbage, and I was thrilled for another recipe that uses cabbage.  We like our cabbage sauteed with bacon and onions, so this is a spin off of my traditional recipe.

Take a whole cabbage head and slice off the stem.  Start cutting thick slices being sure to keep them as much the same size as possible.  It will make a difference with roasting them.  I cut a couple of large sweet onions the same way.  Depending on the size of the onions, sometimes I just cut them in half.

Arrange the slices on a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil or parchment paper.  I had saved the pan I used to bake my bacon in that morning, so I used it.  I took each cabbage and onion steak and dipped them in the melted bacon grease and then turned them once.  As you can see, I also threw in a few jalapenos to roast also.

These cabbage and onion steaks are so yummy and easy and fun to make.  I hope you get to make some real soon.
