Homemade Individual Serve Applesauce is a delicious, healthy homemade applesauce with no added sugar.

Homemade Individual Single Serve Applesauce

With apple season in full swing, I wanted to make a batch of applesauce.  But not just any applesauce.  An applesauce that is wholesome and delicious at the same time using only four ingredients served in individual portion control containers.

In the past, I have made applesauce with loads of sugar, but not this time.

When making applesauce, it's important to use a variety of apples. I like to use sweet and tart apples, too, to better balance flavor and texture.

The sweet apples will break down more, whereas the tart apples will not. I used a variety of apples, including Granny Smith and Gala, in this recipe.

I cooked the applesauce on the stove in a heavy gauge Dutch oven.   If you don't have one, a crockpot will do.

The cooking time varies depending on several factors, including the type and number of apples used and the desired texture.

I sometimes peel the apples, and sometimes I just leave the peeling on.  This time, I peeled the apples.

I added the chopped apples to the Dutch oven, poured the zero sugar cream soda over them, and added the cinnamon sticks and the secret ingredient.

Swerve powdered sugar.  That's right!

The smoothness of the Swerve powdered sugar adds a lovely sweetness that is not too sweet.  Just right.

I started them on medium-high for 30 minutes, then turned the burner down to simmer and cooked them for a couple of hours, stirring and mashing them down with a potato masher to make the sauce texture.

We like our applesauce chunky, but if you like it smooth, use an immersible blender or pour the applesauce into an upright blender and blend on high until you reach the texture you like.

I hope you get to make some individual serve applesauce soon.  It is so much better than store-bought.  Enjoy!
